How the drill works
The three attackers maintain possession while the two defenders attempt to intercept or win the ball. Focus on quick passes, movement, and exploiting numerical superiority. The attackers aim to create space and find opportunities to progress the ball toward the wide area or a scoring zone.
Progress to Lateral Cross: After 5 successful passes (or based on a coach's signal), one of the attackers must break out of the rondo and play the ball wide to a teammate positioned on the flank. The wide player delivers a lateral cross (low or medium height) into the box. Finish: The two remaining attackers in the rondo make runs into the box (e.g., one near post, one far post). The goal is to meet the lateral cross and score past the goalkeeper (or into the mini-goal if no keeper is present).
